in 2015, something magical happened. we met a couple of talented young swedes named artur bra&#776,ndstro&#776,m and egil kahlbom who excelled at composing and producing these lighthearted, breezy disco-hued house tracks (or house- hued disco tracks, perhaps) that both fit the aesthetic and character of lph and brought something new into the fold. the result of that first encounter was marathons, a full-length album, their debut to the world, and now, two years later, we re back for the much-anticipated follow-up. rehearsal is a little briefer than its predecessor�it s five tracks�and has a markedly different tone, one that s less about dusty, sun-bleached samples and more about tightly-engineered and delicately-crafted songs. if the first effort was marked by its carefree naivete&#769,, the sophomore effort is, well, something a bit more advanced or, perhaps, rehearsed. what hasn t changed, though, is these guys ability to home in on grooves and coax something trasncednetally hooky, memorable out of them. the five tracks contained here are low-key in attitude but powerful and punchy in approach. they re uniquely juicy, nourishing numbers for mellow hours and fearlessly fun ditties for party hours. lots of love went into the lot of them, and we hope all s you feel when you let them wash over you is that. love

label boss yse is back on pft with the long anticpated follow up to his gesamtkunstwerk ep which made it into kai alci s best of 2015 chart. if you have been following ant plate s productions under his various guises (yse, yse saint laur ant, rhythm plate, vengaboys) you know what to expect - deep, quirky, innovative house music that sounds like nothing else out there. this ep doesn t disappoint - the grooves on here are impeccable from start to finish. opener unstoppable builds the tension nicely with nagging strings and chords before letting loose with the drums. sun shadow was actually selected by red rack em as one of his best of 2017 despite not even being released. now that s literally being ahead of your time. the robot boogie of all we are is guaranteed to stop heads on the dancefloor with it s unique vocal and syncopated shuffle. closing track you told me slows the tempo slightly and is one for the deeper moments.

tom dicicco is best known for his stern techno output, so its intriguing to seem him donning a new alias, veyg, and exploring a new sound palette. as with the last veyg 12inch, the tone here is somewhere around the slower tempo, discoid acid end of the spectrum, and hes made the sound his own. my sweet soul is a dusty affair with squashed drums and looped up bongos rubbing up against trippy globules of lysergic monosynth action. when they fall- is a downcast electro track for rainy sundays, while these feelings waits for the clouds to break and dances on the damp lawn with no shoes on. west of the sun is the most adventurous offering on the 12inch, escaping the 4/4 thud and twirling in an off-grid stylee with ample dub fx tugging the melodic parts around in a mellifluous haze of experimentation.

duat (pronounced do-aht) was the realm of the dead in ancient egyptian mythology. the deity osiris was believed to be the lord of the underworld since he personified rebirth and life after death, being the first mummy as depicted in the osiris myth. the underworld was also the resi-dence of various other gods along with osiris. the duat was the region through which the sun god re traveled from west to east each night, and it was where he battled apep, who embodied the primordial chaos which the sun had to defeat in order to rise each morning and bring order back to the earth. it was also the place where people�s souls went after death for judgement, though that was not the full extent of the afterlife. burial chambers formed touching-points be-tween the mundane world and the duat, and the akh, the effectiveness of the dead, could use tombs to travel back and forth from the duat.

norm de plume has been quietly making a name for himself the last eight years with remixes for tornado wallace and ben la desh and ep�s for kolour ltd and his own vinyl only imprint plumage winning him a solid following along the way. his passion for all things disco and deep, dubby, underground house inspired by his musical hero ron hardy feeds through into his production style as well as his recently formed peaches & prunes party which boasts an audiophile sound system and vinyl-only sets from the djs. so when the opportunity arose to do a full ep with norm we jumped at it. here we present you with the castlecrag ep, a nod to the londoners new adoptive home of sydney, australia, and whilst his sound may be more akin to the recent musical movements of melbourne, the laid-back sun-kissed melting pot of the harbour city certainly shine through in the two originals and folamour remix on offer here.

when harold boue aka abstraxion invited fantastic man into his studio after playing together the night before he didnt knew he was planting the seed for a new project. as he recalls, it was a day of intense sun in marseille with not enough sleep, but the result was so great that it inspired harold to work on new tracks around the idea of creating music to reflect his city: a bit rough, but luminous and influenced by elements of mediterranean, african and northern european cultures. this has translated into a heavily percussive sound, in which tribal disco grooves invoke the spirits of voodoo-techno. three cuts driven by warmly distorted rhythms, bursts of primitive drums, rubbery synths and uplifting chants that overall feel like the first sunrays after an excursion through a dark cave: both blinding and blissful. the projects name is a tribute to the astrological sign of harolds son, who was born at the same time as the music on the ep. it was the definitive signal he needed to convince himself it was the right time to start something new and different. and an event that for sure helps understanding the vibes that this music transmits: as pure, fresh and powerful as only a new beginning can be.

sami baha is a turkish producer based in south east london. his music was introduced to the world via his 2016 ep �mavericks� (planet mu), recorded while he was moving from istanbul to london where he�s now been living the last 3 years. sami got into producing through being a rapper himself, working with local rappers in turkey and producing beats for them, before setting his sights outside the country.

dark entries is proud to release �commerce�, the third ep from san francisco-based trio inhalt, german for �content�. the group was founded in 2009, and for the purposes of this recording are matia simovich, philip winiger and steven campodonico. inhalt�s core operative strategy is of sonic fidelity and integrity rather than nostalgia. their first release was a split 12- on world unknown in 2011 followed by two eps on dark entries, a remix ep on emotional especial and a part time punks session on cleopatra. �commerce� is a close examination of the self destructive tendency of the ego in relation to the allure of negativity and mass tragedy. the ep details the psychopathy of relentless thirst mandated by neo-liberalism and traverses through the adoption of social and economic technologies that strengthen domination vis a vis self enslavement to disempowerment. employing the best of both modern and vintage techniques, the four songs on the ep utilize dense production, big snares, and powerful german vocals from philip. inhalt are informed by the brooding soundtracks of john carpenter as much as the vastness and sheen of trevor horn, and set out to explore the borders between the vocal-driven pop song and the expansive dancefloor 12&#8243,,,, arrangement. the record was produced over four years at the bands own black sun loft recording studio and different fur studios. paul lavigne mastered the ep in london, england at kontrast mastering and george horn handled the vinyl eq curve at fantasy studios, berkeley. each ep is housed in a specially designed jacket by leo merz and includes a lyric sheet with english translations.

�vain� marks the prodigal return of venezuelan artist carlos giffoni to the avant-electronic music scene he was instrumental in shaping with the seminal, hybridising no fun fest and no fun productions label, which was home to debut releases by oneohtrix point never and noveller, and classics from haswell and prurient during the late 00s to early part of this decade. carlos� first new release in 6 years, �vain� was drawn from hundreds of hours of improvisations made at carlos malibu studio, the final lp describes a tumultuous narrative in affective abstract swells and pulsating rhythms that trigger curious sensations and emotions ever familiar to his variegated, extreme, yet essentially organic output.
